A Date with Hollywood 2015: Christian Magdu (moderator)

Christian Magdu started acting in high school and went straight on to work in the Theater in Gothenburg after graduation. After attending acclaimed acting conservatory Skara Skolscen 2001, he started working with Royal Dramatic Theater director and actress Gun Jönsson. His first starring role on screen came 2002 in Camp Slaughter (Sandrew) that premiered at the Swedish box office in 2004. Raised in the town of Skövde, but resident of Stockholm since 2004, Christian has been seen regularly on TV, for example on TV4’s hugely popular Beck-franchise and Oskyldigt Dömd (Verdict Revised) and also on stage (as The Casanova in SEX). To the broader Swedish audience he’s know as Martin in the Guldbagge-nominated drama comedy Prinsessa (Starring Maja, SF). He’s also appeared in the Berlin Crystal Bear-winning short film Never an Absolution (Röde Orm Film).

Christian’s US adventure started with Prinsessa (Starring Maja) winning best foreign film at the Newport Beach Film Festival, where he was present to receive the award. Agents and managers came along and Christian Magdu signed with Zero Gravity Management, home of Swedish film makers Mårlind & Stein (Underworld: Awakening) and Teresa Fabik, who wrote and directed Prinsessa. In Hollywood he’s appeared both on stage (Vampire: The Masquerade) and TV, selected projects include Illeana Douglas’ IKEA comedy Easy to Assemble, HBO’s True Blood and Animal Planet’s Lost Tapes. He’s a member of SAG-AFTRA and The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (The Emmys) and also an honorary board member of The Actors’ Network. He’s trained in LA with on-camera coaches like Scott Sedita and Jamison Haase and been a student of Uta Hagen’s New York method acting presented by Howard Fine. He also runs his own coaching on showbiz and on-camera technique in Sweden under Hollywoodcoachen.se.

Christian Magdu will next be seen in two last Johan Falk-films premiering August 2015, Johan Falk: Lockdown and Johan Falk:Slutet.
