Review: Urevo Foldimix 5L Pro

by senses.se

TL;DR

The Urevo Foldimix 5L Pro is a folding treadmill priced at 7,000 kr that delivers exceptional stability, an adjustable incline, and a quiet motor that slides flat under a sofa. However, its heavy frame, short power cord, narrow handle spacing, and assembly steps complicate setup. It suits apartment dwellers seeking a space-saving treadmill for walking workouts and active desk work.

Incorporating regular exercise into daily life is a modern masterclass in the art of feeling inadequate. For those living in an average apartment, juggling a full-time job, having a family, and trying to piece together the proverbial work-life balance, a session at the gym often feels like an insurmountable project. You might dream of a dedicated home gym, but the truth is that such luxury spaces are usually reserved for those with well-insulated suburban garages. What do you do if you only have a living room and a sofa? The solution is often spelled “folding exercise equipment.” When the Urevo Foldimix 5L Pro was rolled into the editorial office, we were initially very skeptical. Didn’t it feel like an unnecessarily massive and cumbersome project to have a full-sized treadmill at home? But after a few weeks, it turned out that the machine living under the sofa would change our entire way of working.

Design, Build Quality & Storage

Let’s start with the elephant in the room: the handling. The Foldimix 5L Pro is marketed as a sleek, folding solution, and that is largely true. When the machine is fully folded, it becomes relatively compact, and we have no trouble at all sliding it under our living room sofa. It is a brilliant space-saver.

But the actual process of setting it up and putting it away isn’t quite as seamless as the promotional images would suggest. First and foremost, the treadmill is heavier than you might think. Its solid weight makes it quite cumbersome to maneuver in a cramped home. Additionally, folding it requires the handles to be assembled and disassembled. These aren’t major operations, but they add an extra point of irritation that makes the threshold for “just pulling it out for ten minutes” unfortunately a bit higher than desired.

Another physical shortcoming is the design of the handles. The space between them is quite narrow. If you have slightly broader shoulders and a naturally wide arm swing when walking at a brisk pace, you will guaranteed hit your hands. Both one and two smartwatches at the editorial office took involuntary hits against the rubberized handles during our first sessions before we learned to keep our elbows in. Another extremely practical downside is the power cord—it is far too short. To be able to point the treadmill toward the TV in the living room, we were forced to pull out an extension cord every time. Just one extra meter of cable from the factory would have made everything so much smoother.

The Training Experience & Noise Level

So, what is it actually like to run on? If you are used to the giant, commercial treadmills at SATS or Nordic Wellness, the Urevo treadmill will initially feel both short and narrow. However, you get used to it faster than you’d think, and as long as you concentrate on your stride, it actually works quite well for running; after a few training sessions, you don’t even think about the dimensions. The substantial weight of the machine that we just complained about becomes a massive advantage here: the treadmill is incredibly stable for its price range.

The motor itself is surprisingly quiet and hums along unnoticed without disturbing other people in the apartment. That being said, it isn’t silent, as running on the belt inevitably creates fairly loud thuds. If you live in an apartment with thin walls, we strongly recommend that you don’t decide to do an interval session at eleven o’clock at night unless you want angry neighbors hammering on the ceiling. We also noted that the machine has a tendency to squeak slightly when pushed to its highest speeds.

The absolute biggest advantage in terms of training is the incline. It is rare for a folding treadmill to offer a significant incline at all, and it works wonders for your heart rate when you just want to take a brisk walk. The fact that you can also automatically adjust the belt’s incline during a run with a few button presses is a feature that usually costs much more.

Software, App & Accessories

Urevo’s accompanying app is a positive surprise. It is clean, simple, and incredibly clear. Furthermore, it allows you to export all your workout data to other health apps, which is a requirement for many users out there. A smart detail is that the app gives you much more specific control over the speed than if you just use the treadmill’s own control panel.

On the accessory front, there is some confusion. It comes with a small remote control that none of us have quite understood the purpose of. Are you supposed to stand beside it and control the belt for someone else who is training? A more useful accessory is the media tray for tablets and phones. Granted, it is a bit flimsy, and if you run at a higher pace, it shakes so much that you will definitely get dizzy trying to read the screen. However, Urevo has solved the attachment issue with a very clever, built-in elastic strap that holds the phone in a firm grip so it doesn’t vibrate onto the floor.

The crowning jewel, however, is the included laptop desk. (It is unclear whether everyone who buys the FoldiMix 5L Pro receives this, as it is not listed on Urevo’s own website.) Being able to transform the home office into an active workstation is worth its weight in gold. We have taken numerous video meetings while walking on the treadmill with the computer set up. But a warning is necessary here: you can absolutely not have any incline on the treadmill when using the laptop. If you increase the incline even a single degree, the desk ends up at an angle that causes the screen to shake so violently that motion sickness is inevitable. But if you keep the belt completely flat, it is stable enough for long training sessions!

Conclusion

We began by asking if there really is room for a gym in the apartment, and if the daily grind even allows for it. Before we unpacked the Urevo Foldimix 5L Pro, we dreaded that it would be a cumbersome, space-consuming machine that just gathered dust.

We were wrong. After three weeks of daily use, we have almost forgotten about the too-short power cord, the annoying handle assembly, and the squeaking at top speed. The reason is simple: it is pure magic to be able to pull out the treadmill in front of the TV for a brisk walk with a steep incline in the evening, or to work through the morning’s emails while racking up thousands of steps. The Urevo Foldimix 5L Pro actually solves the equation. It will be extremely difficult to pack up this test machine to send it back and return to our sedentary lives before it rolled in under our sofa.

Review Highlights: Q&A

Can the treadmill be stored under furniture?

When fully folded, the Urevo Foldimix 5L Pro is compact enough to slide easily under a living room sofa, though moving its heavy frame and assembling the handles add extra effort.

How noisy is the motor during use?

The motor hums quietly without disturbing others in the apartment, though running footsteps cause noticeable thuds and the machine tends to squeak slightly at top speed.

Can you use a laptop while working out on it?

The included desk holds a 14-inch laptop stably for walking meetings, but it only works when completely flat because adding any incline shakes the screen violently.

Does it support incline adjustments?

The treadmill features an automatic incline that can be adjusted during workouts with button presses to boost heart rate during brisk walks.

Are the handles comfortable for brisk walking?

The narrow gap between the handles causes wider arm swings to strike the rubberized grips, which can hit smartwatches unless you keep your elbows tucked in.
