TL;DR
The Trust GXT872 Xyra TKL is a mechanical keyboard that perfectly bridges the gap between retro aesthetics and modern enthusiast features. Its standout coiled cable and space-saving TKL design create a stylish, clutter-free desk setup, while hot-swappable linear switches offer a smooth and satisfyingly "creamy" typing experience. Whether you’re deep in a gaming session or tackling a long writing project, the stable build and customizable per-key RGB lighting offer both performance and personality. Although its high profile might require a slight adjustment period, the inclusion of customization tools and dedicated software makes it an incredibly versatile and affordable choice for those seeking a more personalized setup. It’s a well-rounded performer that brings premium custom-keyboard vibes to a wider audience. Read the full review to see how this retro-inspired gem performs in action.
A good keyboard is an essential part of every setup, whether you are gaming or writing a lot. Trust GXT872 Xyra TKL is a mechanical TKL keyboard that combines a distinct retro-inspired design with features otherwise often found in more enthusiast-oriented models.
The first thing I noticed was the design. The coiled cable really provides a retro feel that stands out compared to many other keyboards. I also find that it makes the desk look a bit neater since it doesn’t spread out as much as a standard cable, even if that is primarily about aesthetics.

The TKL format feels like a good choice. Personally, I don’t miss the numpad much, and the extra space for the mouse is immediately noticeable, especially during gaming. At the same time, the keyboard works very well for writing and feels stable on the desk thanks to its weight.
One thing I really like is that the keyboard is hot-swappable. This allows you to change switches without soldering, which I think adds extra value, especially if you want to test different feels in the future.

The linear switches provide a soft and smooth feel when pressed. The sound is perceived as relatively dampened and pleasant, rather than loud and clicky, which makes the keyboard well-suited for both gaming and longer writing sessions. It feels like a keyboard you can use for long periods without disturbing your surroundings too much.
However, it is worth mentioning that there are even quieter alternatives on the market that we have tested previously. For example, the Logitech G515 is slightly quieter. At the same time, the sound from this keyboard has a soft and “creamy” character that provides a very satisfying user experience.

The RGB lighting is also a positive surprise. Each key can be illuminated individually, and there are plenty of colors and effects to choose from. I noticed that it is easy to change settings directly via the keyboard, but if you want to fine-tune things further, there is the Trust XYRA Software where you can configure effects, profiles, and functions more precisely.
There is one small drawback, however. Since the keyboard has a high profile, it can feel a bit unfamiliar at first, especially if you don’t use a wrist rest. For me, it took a while to get used to the height during longer writing sessions.

Included in the box are the keyboard, a detachable coiled USB-A to USB-C cable, and a tool for removing keycaps and switches, making it easy to both clean and customize the keyboard.
In summary, I find the Trust GXT872 Xyra TKL to be an affordable and well-thought-out keyboard. It combines a unique design with features like hot-swappable switches and flexible RGB lighting. It is suitable for both gaming and writing and feels like a great alternative for those who want something more personal than a standard keyboard without it being too expensive.
