Privacy Policy

Handling of Personal Data We care about your personal privacy. In addition to the personal data you provide yourself for site features – such as newsletters and article commenting – we handle and store a minimal amount of data in cookies (see the section below). We handle this data as safely and securely as possible, and in accordance with data protection legislation. Beyond cookies, we also use server logs to analyze, monitor, and troubleshoot our technical infrastructure, as well as the site’s content and functionality. This helps us ensure operational reliability, investigate incidents, monitor our network and telecommunications performance, and assist you, our readers.

How is personal data defined? “Personal data” is information that (sometimes in combination with other data) can be linked to you. Examples include an email address or a name. We will only handle this data when necessary for the intended purpose, to fulfill features or services you have actively chosen, such as the sending of newsletters or when you choose to participate in our competitions (see competition terms).

How long is your personal data stored? Personal data is only stored for as long as is necessary for its purpose, or for as long as we are legally required to retain it. Afterward, your data is securely deleted or anonymized so that it can no longer be linked to you.

How is my personal data protected? We save as little information as possible to ensure functionality and operations. We do not sell anything on the site and therefore do not hold financial data for payment methods or personal identity numbers, to name a few examples. We follow recommended guidelines for information security and protect your data using technical solutions.

Where do we get your personal data from? From you directly, when you subscribe to our newsletter and provide your email and possibly your name, and when you confirm this subscription from the provided email address. Alternatively, when you email us yourself with requests, questions, or provide us with your details to participate in competitions. From your computer, tablet, mobile phone, or other technical device when you visit the site, either by typing the address directly, via our social media channels, or by coming to us through links and search engines (this data may include, for example, IP address, web browser, browser version and any extensions, as well as your operating system).

Is my personal data disclosed? We never disclose or sell your data to third parties. If a competition is organized in collaboration with a partner (third party) who handles the distribution of prizes, you consent to the address details you submitted being shared with them so they can fulfill their purpose (sending out the prize). The partner is responsible for the secure and correct handling of this data. In some exceptional cases, we may also need to disclose your personal data to authorities when required by law, or to the police and similar law enforcement agencies if they request data, for example, to prevent or investigate suspected crimes.

How do we handle cookies? For more information on how we use cookies and the choices you can make regarding accepting or rejecting them, please read https://www.senses.se/cookies/.

Rights regarding your data You can request that we delete any personal data we may have saved. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter yourself at any time via the link in the email you received when you signed up (and also reactivate the subscription), and contact us if necessary as outlined below to request the deletion of any other data we might have. However, we reserve the right, through anonymization, to save and – without providing any form of compensation – use submitted and already published material such as texts, images, audio, and video material, without limitation regarding its use.

Requesting an extract of personal data By sending a scanned and signed letter, with an attached photo of your identification, sent from a confirmed email address, you can request any data we may have saved about you. If this is done repeatedly, we reserve the right to charge an administrative fee.

Contact and further information If you want to read more about data protection legislation and your rights, you can do so at this link: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32016R0679 (Note: Link language changed to EN for the English text) To get in touch with our editorial team and ask questions about data protection or anything else related to the site, please email us at [email protected].

Communication with us You can communicate with us via social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (see the respective platform’s privacy policy for their personal data handling), via email, or by writing comments on our articles. When you comment on the site, you provide your name and possibly an email, and your IP address at that time is stored with the post for reference. You can choose to save your name, email, and website in your own browser (locally, they are not saved by us) for faster handling next time. We use the Akismet service to reduce spam from automated posts and bots, and you can find that service’s privacy policy in the comment box below each article.

When you participate in competitions In connection with competitions on the site, you can choose to submit your entry via email, including your name, address, and mobile number for potential shipping in the event of a win. We also use your name and specified city to announce the winners of our competitions. Legal basis for handling data during the administration of competitions: We process your personal data based on our and your so-called “legitimate interest” and on the basis of “performance of a contract”. This data is only saved for as long as necessary (to decide the competition and send out prizes to winners); all data is then deleted. Therefore, you need to submit the data again every time you choose to participate in a competition.

Latest version of this policy The information on this page may be changed and updated. The latest version is always published here. If we make major changes to how we handle your personal data, we will notify you through a post on the site and, where applicable, via email.
