The only difference is a slightly less glossy surface on the case, but otherwise, they are exactly the same. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/review-shokz-opendots-one\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"78397\">Shokz OpenDots ONE<\/a><\/strong> were a pair of truly special headphones that were symmetrical and kept track of whether they were in the right or left ear themselves. So if you put them on the table, you could care less about which was which, because all the controls you had set up followed along and ended up on the correct side. We were, and still are, truly impressed by this new benchmark that Shokz remains alone in offering. We actually only had two critiques: the price was steep, and they were possibly a bit too tight for larger ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since August 2025, we have used Shokz OpenDots ONE<strong> <\/strong>regularly, and the fear regarding larger ears turned out not to be a problem. Aside from one of the links unfortunately being twisted and snapped during a nap (they are still held together and can still be used), they have aged very little. The headset function is brilliant, the soundstage remains clearly satisfying, and the battery capacity is the same. So, the successor definitely has a lot to live up to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s new with Shokz OpenDots 2?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quite a bit, as it turns out. But before we get to that, a particularly interesting part is the price. On Shokz&#8217;s own website, OpenDots 2 has the same price as its predecessor. It is highly unusual for a successor not to be more expensive, because who would consider buying the predecessor if the price is the same? The reality, however, is different, and currently, OpenDots ONE is about a thousand kronor cheaper, which feels more natural. But the fact that Shokz themselves chooses the same price is, as mentioned, unusual. So again, what is new with OpenDots 2? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Broadly speaking, it is the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bassphere 2.0, upgraded Dolby Audio, and MirrorPitch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Triple AI Noise-Canceling Microphones (Two air-conduction mics + One bone conduction mic) instead of Dual AI Noise-Canceling Microphones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Five minutes of fast charging, instead of ten, provides two hours of use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The rating is now IP57 instead of IP54, and the case is also rated IP54.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The touch controls are upgraded, but most importantly, the &#8220;pinch&#8221; has become physical (it now clicks instead of being pure touch).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bluetooth is upgraded to 6.1 instead of 5.4 (thus providing access to Google Fast Pair\u2122 and Microsoft Swift Pair).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are 0.1 grams lighter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/shokz-opendots-2-04.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"87755\" src=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/shokz-opendots-2-04-1000x750.jpg\" alt=\"The design is the same. (Photo: senses.se)\" class=\"wp-image-87753\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The design is the same.<br>\n(Photo: senses.se)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The battery capacity is the same, the audio hardware is the same, and everything else we haven&#8217;t mentioned above is the same. In short, they have made the connectivity fresher and upgraded some software for the soundstage. This is interesting and something we will dive into a bit further down. However, the fact that the IP rating has received a slight improvement or that you can charge five minutes faster feels less revolutionary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Has the soundstage changed?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We connected both sets of headphones to a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/review-xiaomi-17-ultra-3\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"82666\">Xiaomi 17 Ultra<\/a><\/strong> and went through the playlist. In all honesty, it is difficult to perceive any difference. To truly determine if Bassphere 2.0 impacts the soundstage, many underlying parameters come into play and must be neutralized. The headphones must sit exactly the same in both ears, the signal level of the sound must be precisely the same on each headphone, and even if you then perceive a small difference, there is a risk that the difference is manufactured in the mind with the knowledge that a new version is in place. Additionally, Shokz has introduced MirrorPitch, which also potentially improves the sound by angling the sound outputs to go more directly into the ear canal. But as mentioned, it is very difficult to discern the difference even with both versions in the ears simultaneously. In other words, the difference is very small despite these improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sound remains surprisingly good and is not quite as sensitive as the <strong>Shokz OpenFit Air 2<\/strong> regarding positioning in the ear. They can also be placed so that the soundstage becomes perfect. For a pair of open-ear headphones, OpenDots ONE and 2 are a notch sharper regarding sound than the OpenFit series, with the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/review-shokz-openfit-pro\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"85790\">OpenFit Pro<\/a><\/strong> being the exception. Just like with OpenDots ONE, the 2 is an all-rounder, and all genres become enjoyable. As with most, the bass is a weakness, but with OpenDots 2, this weakness is not as prominent. It rumbles more satisfactorily than with other open headphones like, for example, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/review-beyerdynamic-amiron-zero\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"85687\">Beyerdynamic Amiron Zero<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We should also note here that Shokz now has an EQ profile they call Smart EQ. The idea is that you choose between a number of audio tracks that are played. It is a fairly simple version of a hearing test to get a customized soundstage. We have seen this specific variant several times before and consider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/search\/soundcore\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/search\/soundcore\/\"><strong>Soundcore&#8217;s<\/strong> <\/a>more intricate hearing tests to provide better results. More interesting is Shokz&#8217;s EQ setting &#8220;Private,&#8221; which actually reduces sound leakage from the headphones. It is not a new feature but remains useful if, for example, you are in a call in a very quiet environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Experience \u2013 Shokz OpenDots 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenDots 2 brings everything good from its predecessor but has added some updated features and updated software. It took a little getting used to switching to physical buttons, but the advantage is that you don&#8217;t accidentally press them when adjusting their position. Otherwise, the experience is very similar to OpenDots ONE, and we are happy about that. Features like wear detection, the fact that they keep track of which side they are on, long standby time, and excellent headset functionality mean they can be worn almost all day. The exception is in noisy environments, but that is also the only exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/shokz-opendots-2-03.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/shokz-opendots-2-03-1000x750.jpg\" alt=\"Shokz\u2019s own jewelry designed for OpenDots 2.\n(Photo: senses.se)\" class=\"wp-image-87754\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Shokz\u2019s own jewelry designed for OpenDots 2.<br>\n(Photo: senses.se)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With OpenDots 2, Shokz has also jumped on the adornment trend. Something that Motorola revived in May 2025 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/review-motorola-edge-60\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/test-motorola-edge-60-recension\/\"><strong>Moto Buds Loop<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>(in a collaboration with Swarovski) after the concept had been dormant since Philips gave it a try back in 2008 with Philips Active Crystal (also in a collaboration with Swarovski). Shokz&#8217;s version, however, does not have a collaboration with any specific supplier and, to be completely honest again, the Shokz jewelry was not particularly impressive. One piece sat so loosely that it fell out as soon as you moved your head. This could, of course, be due to bad luck, as the other one was firmly attached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the headphones do not fit in the case with the jewelry attached, meaning you have to remove it every time without losing it. But the trend may certainly have value for some, as open headphones specifically can be worn without losing touch with your surroundings. Why not decorate the headphone if that&#8217;s the case? We did some quick research, and it shows that the concept of jewelry for headphones is remarkably large, with many third-party suppliers and designers creating many stylish variants. Do a simple search and you can see for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Bottom Line \u2013 Shokz OpenDots 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shokz continues to launch high-quality and consistently good headphones within the open-ear segment. We are pleased that they focus on being pioneers in this genre and that, so far, they haven&#8217;t started venturing into other segments. Above all, they choose to renew a product like Shokz OpenDots ONE and, to make it clear, set it at the same price as the predecessor. Small changes to the physical build, none to the design, but several on the inside.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/shokz-opendots-2-05.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/shokz-opendots-2-05-1000x752.jpg\" alt=\"Shokz OpenDots 2 (Photo: senses.se)\" class=\"wp-image-87756\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Shokz OpenDots 2<br>\n(Photo: senses.se)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For OpenDots 2 delivers brilliantly on all the aspects they were created for. The construction also means that if you wear glasses, you don&#8217;t have to worry about how they will fit with any frames resting over the ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The price is approximately 2,300 kronor. Just like with the predecessor, we feel it stings the wallet a bit too much. No matter how good they are, another pair of headphones is needed for many environments such as cycling, airplanes, noisy trains, or just general hustle and bustle in your vicinity. But after a little more than a year with OpenDots ONE, the experience is that they serve their purpose and even if they can&#8217;t be used all the time, they stay in the ears the rest of the time. The flexibility, high sound quality, and contact with surroundings are hard to beat. So maybe it stings a tiny bit less this time, even if it is still a lot of money. But similar to the reasoning in our test of OpenFit Air 2, the new features should be of specific value to you as a consumer for the predecessor not to remain a strong candidate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/shokz.com\/products\/opendots-2\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/shokz.com\/products\/opendots-2\">Shokz<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;sent review units for this test.
