You remember how it was, right? As a child, you sat there in your bedroom, frantically flipping through the worn-out Teknikmagasinet catalog, always aiming for the most expensive gadgets. At the top of the wish list sat those incredibly expensive “TV glasses” from Sony. The concept of having a private screen floating before your eyes felt like pure science fiction, a luxury reserved for those with far too much pocket money. But fast forward to 2026, and suddenly technology, and not least the price, seems to have caught up with that childhood dream. We have strapped the RayNeo Air 3s Pro<\/em> <\/strong>onto the bridge of our nose to see if the vision has finally become reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design and comfort<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At first glance, the RayNeo Air 3s Pro looks like a pair of slightly oversized sunglasses. Weighing in at just 76 grams, they are impressively slim considering the technology housed under the plastic. At the editorial office, opinions on comfort were divided. For some, they sat incredibly comfortably during long sessions, while others found they chafed a bit over the nose and became tiring for the eyes after an hour or so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, we must issue a disclaimer here. Our test sample was delivered completely bare, without any of the accessories that normally come with the purchase. For example, we lacked interchangeable nose pads in different sizes, which likely would have solved the fit issues for our colleagues. We also lacked a case, which is a major drawback. Given the price tag, and the fact that they are a bit too large for a standard sunglasses case, you definitely need a safe place to store them when traveling. Finally, no matter how small they’ve become: you will still look like a bit of a fool if you stroll around town with these on. They are clearly best suited for the couch at home, the office, or on a flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The screen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What impresses the most is how smooth the experience is. It truly is “plug-and-play” in the truest sense of the word. We connected both an Android phone and a Steam Deck via USB-C, and the image appeared immediately, without any hassle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sense of freedom is total. Being able to lie flat on your back in bed, resting the game console on your stomach, and looking straight up at the ceiling at a razor-sharp, 201-inch screen is an experience that actually borders on magic. The dual OLED panels (Micro-OLED) deliver brilliant resolution (1080p per eye) and up to 120Hz for gaming. This makes these glasses the ultimate travel companion; being able to conjure a giant monitor out of your backpack when sitting in a cramped hotel room with your laptop is worth its weight in gold. Furthermore, the design provides total privacy: you can sit on a crowded train and work with sensitive (or private) information without anyone around being able to see what you’re doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power, light, and sharpness<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

But no new technology is entirely trouble-free. Since the glasses lack a built-in battery, they are powered entirely by the source you connect them to. This makes them light, but it naturally draws a significant amount of power. If your phone or console only has a single USB-C port, it unfortunately means you cannot charge the device while using the glasses, which sets a natural (and sometimes annoying) time limit for your gaming sessions. The included USB-C cable is also on the stiff side, which can sometimes affect how the glasses sit on your nose when you move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The image quality is overall fantastic but has its flaws. Sharpness is at its absolute best in the center of the screen. If you try to read small text at the outer edges of the screen, it quickly becomes a bit blurry and straining. The brightness of an impressive 1200 nits is fantastic, but in certain very bright environments (like a sunny room), the image still struggles to be perfect. If you turn the brightness up to the max to compensate, it quickly becomes almost painfully bright for the eyes. Built-in sound is available, and it’s certainly adequate for most occasions, but people around you will clearly hear what you’re listening to if you turn up the volume. As you readers probably know, it is impossible to try to take a picture of what a screen like this actually looks like when you’re wearing them; you’ll just have to trust our judgment when we say it looks really good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Motion sickness?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The single biggest disadvantage, or rather the factor you have to get used to, is that the screen is not gyro-locked. Unlike a traditional VR headset where the screen stays in place in the room when you turn your head, the image in the RayNeo Air 3s Pro follows your gaze exactly. If you move your head, the screen moves. (Some users on Reddit seem to have succeeded in downloading third-party applications where they managed to get stabilized screens. If this is true, it means that the RayNeo Air 3s Pro is actually equipped with a gyro, but we have not been able to confirm or test this ourselves.<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This can lead to a rather shaky experience, and those of us in the office who are more prone to motion sickness initially found it quite difficult. As long as you sit or lie still, it’s not a problem, but we definitely<\/em> do not recommend trying to watch series with these while doing a session on the treadmill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The childhood dream from Teknikmagasinet is actually here, and it works surprisingly well. RayNeo Air 3s Pro<\/em> delivers a crystal-clear and massive screen experience in a format you can take anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sure, the lack of a gyro-locked screen can cause some motion sickness for the sensitive user, and you have to live with draining the battery of your portable console quite quickly. But once you’re lying there on the bed, staring up at the ceiling and playing Cyberpunk on a floating, 201-inch OLED screen, it’s incredibly easy to forgive the shortcomings. If you have the technology (and a little extra budget) for it, this is an accessory that can truly change how you consume media on the go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
