When we tested the Pixel 9 Pro Fold <\/a>last year, we were floored. It was the phone that finally made foldable options feel like serious tools rather than expensive prototypes. Now the successor is here: Pixel 10 Pro Fold<\/a>. It promises more of everything, but has Google managed to push the boundaries enough? We have unfolded the future once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First impression: D\u00e9j\u00e0 vu in the best way<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When we unbox the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, an immediate sense of d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu sets in. If you place it side-by-side with its predecessor, they are virtually indistinguishable. It is still the same impressive build, but this year the playing field has been redrawn. While the Pixel sticks with the design we learned to love last year, Samsung’s new rival has taken the lead in the “thinness race.” The Pixel is still sleek, but now feels noticeably sturdier and heavier compared to Samsung’s incredibly slender Fold 7. However, it is a substantial piece of hardware that inspires confidence, even if it is no longer the thinnest in its class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Same eyes, but a brand new look<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Moving on to the camera, where Google appears to have taken a long lunch on paper\u2014the sensors are actually identical to those in the 9. But appearances can be deceiving. At a quick glance, the images look the same, but if we examine them on the same screen, we see what the Tensor G5 chip actually does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not so much about color tones (although the 9 can sometimes lean a bit more toward green). The big difference is the exposure. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold consistently produces brighter images with significantly better shadow detail. Where the 9 can sometimes feel a bit “heavy” and dark in the deeper areas, the 10 manages to unearth details that make the images pop more. Simply put: the same ingredients, but a more skilled chef in the kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the Pixel 10 Pro Fold like to use?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As for the general “Pixel feel” in this generation, with Android 16 and lightning-fast responsiveness, it closely resembles its siblings. The two major and noticeable differences compared to last year’s model are the screen brightness and the magnetic charging (Pixel Snap). The brightness makes it noticeably easier to read outdoors in bright sunlight. What stands out when using the 10 this year is how much “cooler” it feels under heavy load compared to its predecessor. Whether this is due to the new chip, we’ll leave unsaid. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for those of us in the Nordics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dThe AI Barrier\u201d \u2013 The Swedish frustration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, we have to address the Swedish AI frustration. Google is heavily marketing features like Magic Cue<\/strong> (Magic Suggestion), which is supposed to predict your needs based on screen content. The problem? It doesn’t work in Swedish. Several of the phone’s most intelligent tools, such as advanced Call Screen<\/em>, are either completely locked here or only work in a stripped-down version. We pay full price but in practice only get access to about 80% of the “brain,” which leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Price Tag: The math that actually adds up (?)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What really changes the game this year is the price. Despite being a premium machine, it has already seen price cuts and landed around 17,000 kronor<\/strong>. When standard flagships often cost almost as much, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold suddenly becomes one of the most affordable ways to get both a phone and a tablet in your pocket. You get seven years of updates, a full IP68 rating<\/strong> (waterproof!) and finally, magnetic charging via Pixelsnap<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the definition of a successful evolution. It doesn’t revolutionize the concept and has lost the title of thinnest on the market to Samsung, but it fixes almost everything else. It is faster, more durable, and the image processing brings out details in the dark that its predecessor missed. Already have a 9 Pro Fold? Sit tight. But for those looking to take the step into the foldable world at a (relatively speaking) humane price, this is the best choice right now, even though the Swedish AI features are still running on the back burner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
