Streamdecks, also known as macropads, have gained traction in broader markets. The Neo series addresses this shift with a more office-appropriate design. The Streamdeck Neo integrates seamlessly into most desk setups.

The Streamdeck Neo includes an adjustable stand with a highly effective non-slip base, ensuring stability even during rapid button presses. The material exhibits a slightly adhesive texture, reminiscent of the grip found on new receiver gloves used in American football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Streamdeck Neo features eight customizable buttons, an information screen, and two navigation buttons. While eight buttons may seem limited, the ability to organize commands into folders significantly expands functionality with minimal additional interaction. A significant design flaw is the integrated, non-removable USB-C cable, which we found to be too short. Our test setup required reconfiguration to accommodate the cable’s reach to the desktop computer. Users intending to connect the Streamdeck Neo to a desktop system should consider a USB-C extension cable. The fixed cable length would be less problematic if a longer replacement were an option. It’s possible Elgato envisions the Neo as a secondary Streamdeck for users who already have a full-sized version at their workstation and want a portable option for use with a laptop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Streamdeck Neo is exceptionally user-friendly, even for those unfamiliar with macropads. Setup is straightforward: connect the device, install the software, and begin customizing. Elgato’s extensive experience in this area is evident in the software’s intuitive design. While a comprehensive list of compatible shortcuts is beyond the scope of this review, some popular examples include opening frequently visited websites, launching applications, executing Excel shortcuts, switching audio inputs, muting the microphone, and capturing screenshots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The primary drawback is the fixed cable, which is often too short for typical desk configurations. We recommend the Streamdeck Neo. However, if the price is a concern and a simpler design without the information screen is acceptable, the Elgato Streamdeck Mini presents a more affordable alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
