I previously reviewed Predator: Hunting Grounds<\/a><\/strong> for the Playstation 4<\/strong>. This review will focus on the differences between that version and the current-generation release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My initial assessment of Predator: Hunting Grounds<\/em> on the Playstation 4 was lukewarm. The DLC Dutch Tapes<\/strong><\/a>, released subsequently, further diminished my enthusiasm. This raises the question: why revisit this title?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The adage that “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results<\/a>“<\/em> resonates strongly with Predator: Hunting Grounds<\/em>, as my experience remained largely unchanged. The core gameplay loop is identical, and initially, it was difficult to discern any significant improvements in the upgrade from the Playstation 4 to the Playstation 5<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The core gameplay remains unchanged. While the setup is identical, I honestly can’t recall if Crossplay<\/strong> was implemented in the Playstation 4 version. Regardless, it is present in the Playstation 5 version. Graphically, the game benefits from a higher resolution and an increased frame rate of 60 fps, up from 30 fps. While visual enhancements are present, they are not dramatically different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owners of the Playstation 4 version are eligible for a reduced price on the Playstation 5 version. However, the cost remains considerable for an upgrade. If substantial improvements were present, the price point might be justifiable, but in my assessment, the differences are not significant enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crossplay functionality is a welcome addition, expanding the player base. However, lengthy wait times, often exceeding five minutes, persisted during matchmaking. The absence of a solo campaign remains a significant drawback. Its inclusion would have elevated the upgrade to a more compelling proposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, I do not believe the upgrade to the next gen<\/strong> version is warranted for most players. However, dedicated fans of Predator: Hunting Grounds<\/em> may find some value in the enhanced visuals and performance. Current sentiment in online forums suggests that many players are content with the Playstation 4 version, which remains compatible with the Playstation 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
