Last autumn, we published an in-depth review of the SodaStream Ens\u00f8<\/a><\/strong>. Today, we revisit aspects of the Ens\u00f8, but our primary focus is the SodaStream Fizz&Go<\/strong>, a 900ml insulated flask designed for compatibility with SodaStream’s Quick-Connect system, and consequently, the Ens\u00f8. In our previous Ens\u00f8 review, we examined the machine’s features in detail. At that time, the machine was only available in Chrome, a finish susceptible to fingerprints. The Ens\u00f8 is now available in matte black and matte sand. We examined the matte black version and found it appealing. While Chrome offers a distinct aesthetic, the matte black finish integrates more seamlessly into the kitchen environment and, due to its color, gives the impression of a slightly smaller footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although extensively covered previously, the simplicity of the Quick-Connect system for both the CO2 cylinder and the bottle warrants reiteration. In our prior review, we also noted SodaStream’s successful shift away from the plastic-heavy designs of the past. For comparison, we positioned an approximately ten-year-old model (the G-100) next to the Ens\u00f8. The differences in shape, color (to some extent), and overall design are evident, with the Ens\u00f8 reflecting a more minimalistic and stylistic approach. This is evident in the materials used, the updated logo, and the concealed carbonation button. Notably, SodaStream<\/a><\/strong> has significantly reduced the operational noise of their machines, a factor to consider for those seeking to carbonate water discreetly. It should be noted, however, that the build quality of the older models remains robust; our ten-year-old unit functions as reliably as it did when new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, let’s return to the primary subject of this review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fizz&Go \u2013 A Welcome Addition<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Fizz&Go felt like a natural progression for the SodaStream ecosystem upon its arrival at our office. Decades ago, SodaStream bottles were glass with red lettering and a red stopper. While various bottle designs have been introduced since then, this appears to be the first instance (unless we have overlooked an older model) of a stylish, double-walled stainless steel bottle designed to maintain temperature for approximately 12 hours. We conducted a test, and starting at 12.5 degrees Celsius, the temperature increased to 15.3 degrees Celsius after 12 hours at room temperature. While the duration of temperature retention may be secondary, the primary function \u2013 maintaining coolness \u2013 is effectively achieved. It is a pleasant surprise to consistently find the water remains cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We Hope to See a Similar Design for Fuse!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Fuse, previously known as My Only Bottle<\/em>, has a 0.5 L capacity, while the Fizz&Go holds 0.9 L (or 745 ml for optimal carbonation), which we feel is slightly oversized. Our primary critique is its weight when full, making it less ideal for everyday carry, except for activities like beach trips or picnics. A 0.5 L version would be preferable, and ideally, the current design language would be maintained. Such a combination would be highly desirable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Points to Consider<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned in our previous review, the Quick-Connect system offers backward compatibility with older bottles but not with CO2 cylinders. While the Quick-Connect cylinders are more expensive than their predecessors, they remain an economically sound choice compared to purchasing pre-bottled carbonated water. However, a significant drawback is the inability to exchange older cylinders for the new Quick-Connect type, even with an additional fee (this observation is based on our experience and may not apply nationwide). For new SodaStream users, this limitation is not a concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion: Fizz&Go<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Fizz&Go is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally effective. While the price point of 350 kronor might seem somewhat high, it represents a one-time investment, unlike plastic bottles with expiration dates due to their pressure vessel construction. Our testing of the Fizz&Go occurred before the full onset of summer, but this did not diminish its appeal. Its benefits are likely to be even more pronounced during warmer periods when effective cooling solutions are essential. In such conditions, the Fizz&Go will undoubtedly become a staple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
