I previously reviewed Mary Poppins Returns<\/strong> in theaters, and that review can be found here<\/a>. This assessment will focus specifically on the Blu-ray edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Regrettably, the 4K Ultra HD<\/strong> version of Mary Poppins Returns<\/em> is not readily available for purchase in a Swedish edition, requiring an expensive import. Given Disney’s<\/strong> recent foray into UHD<\/strong> releases in the Nordic region, as evidenced by my review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier<\/a>, there remains hope for a future release. Until then, viewers are limited to the HD version or opting for the import.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I initially rated Mary Poppins Returns<\/em> a ten out of ten upon its theatrical release. However, the Blu-ray edition experiences a slight deduction, as the format doesn’t fully leverage the available potential. The visuals offer clear and vibrant colors with well-balanced contrast, but a subtle softness is present, particularly noticeable during “The cover is not the Book”<\/em> sequence. While the audio is excellent, allowing the music to shine, the absence of Dolby Atmos<\/strong> support is a missed opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Blu-ray boasts a significant amount of bonus content, including several compelling documentaries that extend beyond mere promotional material. A short documentary focusing on Dick Van Dyke’s<\/strong> scene is particularly moving. The comprehensive overview of the film’s production process is a welcome addition. A Sing-along<\/em> version of the film is also included, with a Swedish language option available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Switching to the Swedish dubbing reveals a high-quality adaptation. The songs are cleverly and skillfully translated, and the voice casting is excellent across the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, this Blu-ray edition is comprehensive and well-rounded. However, the absence of UHD 4K resolution and Dolby Atmos\/DTS:X support prevents it from achieving a perfect score. A crucial element is missing to reach its full potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
