FIFA 18<\/strong> introduces a number of updates this year, with varying degrees of success. Notably, the single-player mode, The Journey,<\/em> has been enhanced (though it concluded somewhat abruptly in FIFA 17<\/strong>). The gameplay also benefits from streamlined improvements, such as simplified substitutions during stoppages and refined automatic dribbling mechanics. As expected, the presentation remains exceptional, encompassing both visually impressive graphics and insightful commentary that feels remarkably realistic. The game is presented in sharp 4K resolution with vibrant HDR color support on PS4 Pro. We will provide an update on enhancements for Xbox One X<\/a> closer to the console’s launch, alongside analysis of other X-enhanced titles.<\/p>\n<\/a> FIFA 18 – continues to offer the best overall presentation (graphics, sound, and broadcast feel).\n

However, the game’s tempo has been deliberately slowed. While this may introduce a greater sense of realism and encourage tactical play, it also diminishes the overall excitement. The game can feel somewhat sluggish and cumbersome, despite showcasing moments of brilliance in attacking scenarios. In terms of physical interactions and challenges, FIFA 18<\/em> lags slightly behind PES 2018<\/strong><\/a>. In PES 2018<\/strong>, player interactions feel more aggressive and conducive to physical contact, whereas in FIFA 18<\/em>, players often hesitate to fully commit to challenges, impacting defensive play. Prior to a recent patch, scoring goals was also somewhat too easy, introducing an element of randomness (which has since been addressed).<\/p>\n

The comparison between FIFA 18<\/em> and PES 2018<\/em> resembles a match between a powerhouse like the Netherlands and a more underdog team like Iceland. The Netherlands, possessing superior individual talent, showcases moments of brilliance. However, Iceland, fueled by creativity, teamwork, and passion, manages to overcome the Dutch, perhaps even securing a decisive victory in extra time. FIFA 18<\/em> is a competent title with numerous strengths \u2013 yet it arguably lacks a crucial element. In our assessment, that singular element gives PES 2018<\/em> the edge this year: it provides a more engaging and enjoyable gameplay experience, which remains paramount.<\/p>\n
