{"id":1060,"date":"2020-11-18T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-18T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/review-plus-plus-go-crazy-cart-and-hot-rod\/"},"modified":"2025-06-16T19:18:24","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T17:18:24","slug":"review-plus-plus-go-crazy-cart-and-hot-rod","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/review-plus-plus-go-crazy-cart-and-hot-rod\/","title":{"rendered":"Review: Plus-Plus Go! \u2013 Crazy Cart and Hot Rod"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As a long-time Lego enthusiast, having reviewed various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/review-lego-dc-super-villains\/\">games<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/en\/special-lego-star-wars-20th-anniversary-editions\/\">building kits<\/a>, and even visited the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/lego-event-2019\/\">Lego House<\/a>, I was intrigued by Plus-Plus, a building concept originating from Denmark. <em>(Reportedly, Plus-Plus is quite popular in preschool environments.)<\/em> Can <strong>Plus-Plus<\/strong> offer an engaging experience for the experienced building enthusiast?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/crazycart01.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/crazycart01-1000x750.jpg\" alt=\"photo: Senses.se\" class=\"wp-image-41876\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/plus-plus.com\/\">Plus-Plus<\/a> models utilize interlocking pieces resembling two conjoined plus signs. With the exception of specialized components like wheels and base plates, all pieces are uniform. This design offers considerable creative potential and versatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/crazycart02.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/crazycart02-1000x760.jpg\" alt=\"Plus-Plus Go! Crazy Cart photo: Senses.se\" class=\"wp-image-41881\"\/><\/a><figcaption>The representation of certain features, such as the steering wheel using square pieces, requires some imagination. Photo: senses.se<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus-Plus Go! is a series centered around constructing car models. I evaluated the <strong>Crazy Cart<\/strong>, comprised of 240 pieces. Upon opening the box, I immediately noted the pieces&#8217; flexible nature, which I will address later. The instructions presented a challenge, appearing somewhat cluttered. Even for an experienced model builder, discerning individual pieces and their placement proved difficult. The process often felt more like guesswork than precise model construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once assembled, the car felt somewhat fragile and unwieldy, detracting from its playability. I encountered difficulty incorporating the final two pieces as outlined in the instructions, as shown in the video below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Plus-Plus - Crazy Cart miss\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/480434592?h=94786a3678&amp;dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the <em>Crazy Cart<\/em>, I assembled the <strong>Hot Rod<\/strong>, also consisting of 240 pieces. However, the roof section remained loosely attached, impacting its overall stability (as demonstrated in the video). Consequently, this model also lacked robust play value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/hotrod02.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/hotrod02-1000x750.jpg\" alt=\"Plus-Plus Go! Hot Rod photo: Senses.se\" class=\"wp-image-41878\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Plus-Plus Go! Hot Rod photo: Senses.se<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Another challenge with Plus-Plus is the difficulty in differentiating the identical pieces. Individuals with even mild colorblindness may find it particularly challenging. Despite having good color vision, I struggled to distinguish between the red and orange pieces. The resulting models present a somewhat ungainly aesthetic. The inherent shape limitations preclude the creation of rounded or flowing lines. This concept might be better suited for constructing buildings and other angular structures, rather than vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/hotrod03.jpg\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.senses.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/hotrod03-1000x750.jpg\" alt=\"photo: Senses.se\" class=\"wp-image-41879\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In conclusion, the core concept of utilizing identical interlocking pieces holds merit and offers extensive creative possibilities. However, the aforementioned issues with the model designs significantly detract from the overall experience.
